Unweaving the Rainbow

At times, my gaze drifts toward a place far away, while at the same time resting on the here and now. In a time when change and crisis have become part of everyday life, this way of looking may seem unnecessary, even slightly out of place. Still, I find myself returning to it. Between the world beyond perception and the reality of the present moment, there is a delicate space where chance and necessity meet, where order and disorder lean into one another, and where life briefly finds room to exist.

I approach this distance through light. Light draws what the senses cannot quite reach closer to the present, quietly allowing meaning to surface. When I pause before things as obvious as light and gravity, the world begins to feel unexpectedly mysterious.

This is where my painting begins. I hold onto light and gravity, then slowly layer them with a sense of individuality. I remain within painting, meeting other forms and systems at eye level, without trying to stand apart.
My process begins with a question of why and continues through the physical gestures of how. Between cold knowledge and warm sensitivity, I let pigments fall in obedience to gravity. Sometimes I intervene. At other moments, I step back. I choose and divide, separate and extend, often without being entirely sure where one action ends and the next begins. Hesitation and excess, translated into uneven rhythms, leave their traces and quietly gather over time.

Through this process, I hope to add small moments of beauty to the atmosphere of everyday life. I wish for the work to invite a gentle and attentive way of looking, one that allows emotion to settle and, at times, softly unsettles what is usually taken for granted. If the work can remain in a space without asking for attention, resonating quietly like Erik Satie’s furniture music, almost as if it were not there at all, that feels enough to me.

Regarding the exhibition title
the nineteenth-century poet John Keats wrote his lines out of a discomfort with reason, believing that it unraveled the rainbow of heaven. Later, the science writer Richard Dawkins cited these words and wrote his book in order to emphasize rational and logical thinking. By unfolding a sense of wonder that reflects on unity through painterly narratives, I have cited the title exactly as it is.
